Shop the enterprise platform that is able to respond to the complexity of the retail food sector


The Auchan Retail Group is considered one of the main companies operating in the GDO sector. In Italy it is present with over 1.900 points of sale.
The brand has launched the new service, an online supermarket with a vast assortment of products, including fruits, vegetables, and even fresh and frozen goods.
Users can do their shopping online - including checking their order history, saved shopping lists, and sale items - and pick up their purchases later. It is a modern, innovative system tailored to bring large scale retail operations to the electronic commerce market.

The Project

After the outstanding results of Chronodrive and spesasimply projects, the Auchan Group contacted us to continue on their course of updating their technological platforms. The basic requirement was to achieve a flexible infrastructure that could keep up with the times and should be capable of supporting the complexities of the retail food sector.
Specifically, the platform had to be able to manage tight order fulfillment times, delivery by appointment, and the different preparation processes for managing the cold chain. Finally, it had to be able to update the warehouse inventory in real time to manage product expiration dates.



We implemented a multi-channel (desktop, mobile, and in-store totem) and multi-brand (to serve the various brands in the group) Magento platform that offers different delivery methods (Drive, Click & Collect, and home delivery).

PIM, ERP and WMS Integration

We integrated Magento with the corporate information systems (PIM for customer information management, ERP for order management, and WMS for warehouse management). Thanks to this improved logistics management, it is possible to view the warehouse inventory in real time from both Magento and the corporate WMS.
On the customer side, this integration allows accessing all the supermarket's products, including fresh goods, with the same prices and promotions as the brick and mortar store. The catalog is well-stocked and keeps track of variable weight products, products with options, ingredients and allergens management, product tagging, and advanced filters.

Multistore support

A single platform for the management of several geographic areas organized in several stores, each with its own catalog, price list and promotions.

Advance search engine

With the integration of Apache Solr, we implemented a predictive search engine that is able to anticipate the customer's needs, correct errors, and suggest the correct products and categories.



Unique User Experience

We implemented "La tua card" ("Your Card"), a unique and free card, reserved for loyal customers, that rewards them with accumulated points, credits, personal coupons, special promotions, and the ability to invite friends.
Furthermore, we implemented an area designed to speed up users' purchasing process with most frequently purchased products, favourite products, topical wishlists, and all promotional products.
We aligned the in-store promotions with online shops: discount, MxN, coupon, cashback, collection of stamps, points collection.

Responsive design

The platform was developed to offer optimal viewing and perfect usability across desktop and mobile devices.
