TYPO3 is a web open source CMS supported by the web community of developers and users referring to www.typo3.org. Designed by Danish Kasper Skarhoj in 1997, it has since then extended worldwide reaching a high quality standard development and a great success to web agencies, professional developers and individual websites.

TYPO3 community has now its own official leader that is TYPO3 Association.

TYPO3: a quick, simple but effective way to manage or improve your website. Our developers are costantly working on new and specific extensions to give customers a tailor-made web content management solution ready to boost their net business.

TYPO3 statistics (from TYPO3.ORG)

  • 23980 users are registered on TYPO3.org out of which 1650 has been considered active over the last two months.
  • 3431 websites has been made with TYPO3 that we know of! (registered references). Experience tells us only a fraction of the sites made are listed on TYPO3.org, so multiplying this number with 10 might be reasonable. On the other hand this number includes everything from large cooperate sites and intranets to small websites for someones dog called "King"...
  • 865 consultancies located in 57 countries offer their services to implement and host TYPO3 solutions.
  • 43 languages are available for TYPO3s backend interface. A total of 195 people are involved in the efforts to translate TYPO3.
  • 1033 extensions for TYPO3 created by 338 developers are publicly available for everyone. Another 1030 extensions are in the pipeline currently and 2213 might be planned (while a large number of these planned extensions will not go anywhere).
  • 3300000 times since summer 2002 has someone connected to TYPO3 Extension Repository to browse and install extensions. Counting unique referers we can estimate that 122000 TYPO3 installations (each of which might include one or more running sites) might be out there.
