Checosamanca®  [Whatismissing] is a political film distributed by Eskimosa, a company of the Feltrinelli Group, in close collaboration with Rai Cinema. Whatismissing is a collective documentary film that will be published in Feltrinelli Real Cinema DVD + book collection produced in collaboration with Eskimosa.
The whole film project involved a group of 10 young film directors, selected from a group of 65 byEskimosa, who directed and told 7 stories with different characters and places, about some particular political aspects of Italy.
The editing of the film sequences and scenes, each taken by different hands and with different views, was developed by Esmeralda Calabria (who already edited Romanzo Criminale, La Stanza del Figlio, Il caimano).  Whatismissing is innovative for the a-typical construction and narrative process with which it was designed, starting from the searching of new stories and characters to the collaborative editing nourished by the base of formal discussions, suggestions and ideas of the younger Italian directors.
Whatismissing was presented at the Rome Cinema Fest and will be published in 2007 by Feltrinelli Real Cinema.

Project
Designing a website for a film such as Whatismissing required an advanced solution for the management of multimedia contents and for the implementation of particular functions such as forum, guestbook, e-card and video files.
The project featured the necessity to know exactly the time and the modality of the customization and integration process of the file streaming, users interaction and visitors.

According to the timeline set by the film presentation and distribution, the website was realized using some TYPO3 available extensions, an open source cms which presented some advanced functions for multimedial editing and publishing.


Solution
The website of Whatismissing collects every comment, news, issue, discussion related to the film event and all its features, the life of the group and the development of the project. It is the web space to get involved in a new way of making films.  In the website some trailers and video files are available for the streaming or the download, all related to the construction process of the film as long as some extracts of the 7 stories told.
A forum has been activated in order to let users talk and exchange their comments with the 10 directors involved in this new way of film making. There is also a guestbook for those who wish to leave a message, share an emotion, an idea, an impression about the film. It is also possible to send an e-card with the poster of the film for anyone who identifies and share the same values, themes and messages of the film.
In some particular sections is published all the information related to the "live" meetings organized with and by the directors, and also all the events and the news that will keep the community together.
