The A.U.S.L. of Parma promotes, develops and ensures to citizens availability and access to the whole range of medical & health services, delivered according to the essential levels of public medical assistance.

Building a network of relationships within the social and economic context of the local territory, the company provides and manages medical services to citizen through a differentiated and internally integrated system which interacts also with external healthcare institutions operating in the local environment.

Project

The main objective of the company was to empower the process of contents and services administration enabling access to more than 2600 users through secure and effective authentication procedures.
TYPO3 was selected for its high level of scalability, its power and customization. In particular the TYPO3 solution provided also the company with a refined management of  user permissions.

Realization

The project realization went through various aspects regarding security, connectivity and stability of the intranet performance. The main steps of the project were:

  • installation and configuration of cms TYPO3 on Linux Server in a mixed Windows, Linux, Mac network
  • implementation and customisation of LDAP authentication for the management of more than 2600 users divided in more than 30 groups. Comparative test has been performed with LDAP of type Active Directory on Windows Server 2003 and on OpenLDAP on Linux.
  • customisation of  the authentication procedure supporting a custom setting of groups previously defined on the server LDAP which was not changeable
  • Customization of the users profiles import procedure from the server LDAP to TYPO3. The procedure was divided in automated consequent steps in order to prevent overcharge for the network and the server.
  • VPN remote support

Training

To improve the professional skills of the staff, a customized training on CMS TYPO3 has been provided, directly at the company's premises in order to let the project personnel use effectively and immediately the newly set intranet.

The personnel training has allowed the staff to learn all aspects of TYPO3 administration functionalities as long as the template management and development.
